Registry & Registrar Data Escrow
To maintain ICANN accreditation under the Registrar Data Escrow (RDE) provision, Registrars can regularly deposit a backup copy of their gTLD registration data with NCC Group through ICANN's arrangement with NCC Group. The data held in Escrow may be released to ICANN upon termination of a registrar's accreditation agreement or expiration of the accreditation agreement without renewal to facilitate transfer of registrations from the failed registrar to another registrar.
NCC Group's RDE program is based on our market leading Escrow Live service, supported by our Tier 1 data center based on various best-of-breed hardware, software, and infrastructure solutions. We monitor performance and availability on a regular basis, and proactively address capacity management issues. The registrar data is protected behind two firewalls for maximum protection. The file transfer process will automatically trigger data decompression and decryption, perform integrity testing, and then generate an automated email confirming the receipt of the deposit. All transactions are logged in a database for auditing purposes and to support ICANN's compliance requirements.
