Application & Technology Review

Web Application Review

A black box (without source code and minimal or no specifications) assessment is undertaken of a web application. A web application is broadly defined as any web site that has dynamic content (i.e. content that is generated dynamically off incoming requests).

White Box Technology Review

A source code review of a product (for e.g. a web server), possibly including a design review, threat modeling and some fuzz testing.

Content Robustness Review

An increasing number of software and hardware vendors are shipping products that handle premium content (for e.g. high definition video and audio, highly proprietary algorithms, highly awaited video games etc). It is in their interests to protect this content to the best of their ability so it cannot be pirated. In some cases there may be a legal requirement to do so (e.g. from the MPAA). The technology that handles protected content is also known as DRM (Digital Rights Management).
