Call to use anti-virus software
07 Jun 2010
Going online without an updated anti-virus software puts personal
information at risk and web users are not giving enough thought to the
financial and emotional cost of losing valuable data from their
computers, AVG said.
The firm's poll found that inadequate security for music stored online
is putting £718 million worth of downloaded tracks at risk.
Women are more likely to protect their data by using computer security
software than men, while 95% of internet users aged over 50 take the
trouble to keep their data safe.
AVG managing director Mike Foreman said: "It's astonishing how much we
store on our personal computers today - and how open we can leave
ourselves to cyber criminals and the loss of content with financial and
emotional implications."
